How To

SwagBucks Kicked Darlene Off

by Jim Howard on August 9, 2010

I posted a couple of days back that Darlene, my ex-wife, was saving her SwagBucks until she got 700 so that she could get $5.00 in her PayPal account.  Then yesterday I told you that she had saved up 700 and had turned them in and was waiting for them to put $5.00 in her PayPal account.
Well she is not getting the $5.00 and they have kicked her off of SwagBucks!  It seems they have a rule of only one family member can belong to SwagBucks.  I do not remember seeing that rule.  I can not find that rule on their site.
I am sure they suspect fraud and that is the reason they have that rule.
Any site that gives away things or has contest or anything is going to have major fraud attempts taking place.
But poor Darlene a handicapped poor woman in a wheelchair … She is the one they catch.  That is always the way it is.  Plus she was not scamming them in any way she was just doing what they want.

Both Darlene and Jimmy had SwagBucks account. They live in the same apartment.  Both Russell and I live in the same apartment and we both have account now.

YouTube Mobile

by Jim Howard on July 9, 2010

"YouTube Mobile gets a kick start!
The new YouTube mobile website (m.youtube.com) offers a number of enhancements including:
- It’s really fast.
- The new user interface incorporates larger, more touch friendly elements, making it easier to access videos on the go.
- It incorporates many of the features you’ve come to expect from YouTube.com, such as search query suggestions, options to create playlists, and the ability to "favorite," "like," or "unlike" videos directly on your device.
- As we make improvements to YouTube.com, you’ll see them quickly follow on the mobile website, unlike native apps which are not updated as frequently.
You can access the latest YouTube mobile website from your Android or iPhone browser at m.youtube.com. Bookmark the new mobile site and save it to the home screen on your device for easy access in the future.
The new site is launching in English only on July 7th, but will be rolling out in other languages in the coming months."

Now the important thing is if you want to see MY videos on your cell or mobile device right?  Smile
The URL for that is:  http://m.youtube.com/hnbbs

I will be doing cell phone inspections to make sure you saved my url.  There will be a test.  Smile
Let me know how the new YouTube mobile works for you.  Not just my videos but others and what sort of cell phone or mobile device you are using.

Virgin Mobile kickback code: eJ7W7Tnn

by Jim Howard on June 23, 2010

I went to BestBuy today and I got a LG Rumor Touch cell phone.  It was $149.99 so they do not have the special any more.
I am going to post today or tomorrow on YouTube and here my feeling about the cell phone and Virgin Mobile.  If you are offended by cuss words then do not watch the video.  Smile

If you buy a LG Rumor Touch when you go to Virgin Mobile to sign up they will ask you if someone told you about the phone/service and they will ask for a "kickback" code.  Put in:  eJ7W7Tnn
You will get an extra 60 minutes free and I will get 60 minutes added to my service.

I love the phone.  I signed up for the $40.00 a month plan. So I will have 1100 minutes a month.  If you can live with 300 minutes a month you can get service for $25.00 a month.  Do not forget the "kickback" code:  eJ7W7Tnn and get an extra 60 minutes.
It is a hell of a phone and for $25.00 a month it is a hell of a deal.
Why then will I be screaming and cussing in the video about it?  Hay, I want you to wait and see my having a fit and do not want to spoil the fun of seeing me pissed off.

BestBuy would have put in the battery and activated the phone for me. I came home and did it.  If you buy the phone someplace let them put in the battery and activate it for you.  Smile

ATI Radeon HD 5450

by Jim Howard on February 4, 2010

"AMD announced its latest addition to the ATI Radeon HD 5000 series, the ATI Radeon HD 5450 graphics card. With a similar featureset as the HD 5800 series, this radical-looking card supports both DirectX 11 and OpenGL 3.2, and is geared toward casual gamers and home theater buffs.

With a clock speed of 650MHz, this card won't get too hot too fast. Some models are passively cooled while others have a low-speed fan, ensuring practically silent operation; this makes the RadeonHD 5450 perfect for situations where quiet fans are necessary, like a home theater setup.

In addition to being quiet, the HD 5450 consumes less than 20 watts while under a full processing load, so no external power connection is necessary.

If you do plan on using the HD 5450 in your home theater PC, you'll be happy to know that it includes support for HDMI 1.3a, as well as Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio.

The HD 5450 features ATI's Eyefinity multi-monitor technology: One card can drive three displays, making it easier to set up your PC with multiple monitors.

The best part? ATI has set the price at $60 for the HD 5450, so you can save your money for a slick set of monitors or building a quiet PC to control your home theater.

You can find more information about the RadeonHD 5450 on AMD's site."  PCWorld

This sounds like something I would want to get for my current computer.

Review of the Saitek Eclipse II Keyboard

by Jim Howard on October 1, 2009 · 2 comments

This is a review I did of the Saitek Eclipse II Keyboard.  It is what I use here now.  I forgot to mention in the video that it is a USB keyboard.  I am not sure if I mentioned or not in the video that it works with Ubuntu.  But on the Ubuntu you better check first but it works OK for me.

What is a Gravatar

by Jim Howard on September 27, 2009

What is a Gravatar and how do you get one and what can you do with it? You want to know how much does it cost. The cost is easy. It is free.

“Gravatar (an abbreviation for globally recognized avatar) is a service for providing globally-unique avatars which was created by Tom Werner.

On Gravatar, users can register an account based on their email address, and upload an avatar to be associated with the account. Gravatar plugins are available for popular blogging software; when the user posts a comment on such a blog that requires an e-mail address, the blogging software checks whether that e-mail address has an associated avatar at Gravatar. If so, the Gravatar is shown along with the comment. Gravatar support is provided natively in WordPress as of v2.5 and Redmine web based project management application beginning with version 8.0 (2008-12-07) . Support for Gravatars is also provided via a third party module in the Drupal web content management system .

A Gravatar avatar can be up to 512 pixels wide, is always square and is displayed at 80 by 80 pixels by default. If the uploaded avatar is larger or smaller, the avatar is scaled appropriately. Each Gravatar is rated with an MPAA-style age recommendation, which allows webmasters to control the content of the Gravatars displayed on their website.

To eliminate spam, e-mail addresses are hashed with the MD5 cryptographic hash function. This prevents spambots from harvesting e-mail addresses.”
