You are not the only one that can not leave a message on the Forum message area here.  Even I can not leave a message on it.  Smile
I been trying to see what I have done wrong but do not see the answer yet.  I may just remove it and install some other forum software.

So far today I have made over $2  from Google AdSense.  It looks like I am starting to see how to set it up to make a few dollars.  If it turns out that $60.00 a month is all I make…that will not be bad… That is a lot of money to me.  I can eat for two weeks on that amount of money.

I guess I will see if I can fix the message board or replace it.

jhowardtwomonitors                                                             I been using two monitors on this computer.  I have had a HP 1440x900 and a Gateway 1680x1050 hooked up.  It worked out well for me.  I could have information on each screen and find information and copy and paste.
I woke up today and the Gateway was dark.  When it would boot up I could see the Gateway logo and the computer devices appear and then it went black.  I tried switching it. I tried cold reboots and hard reboots and every thing and no luck.
Now I just have one monitor on this computer and that is the HP and it works at 1440x900.  God, for me that is a small desktop to work with… I think the Gateway may still work.  I am thinking the DVI feed is fried or something.  I will mess with it later and may find a use for it.

Swine Flu News Media Hype? PDF Print E-mail
Written by Jim Howard

From my little window on the world it looks to me like there are going to be a few problems with this flu season.
One is that many people do not trust the government and many do not trust the news media.  (If you are a right wing Republican then you do not trust any of them.)
Many people my age remember  the 1976 swine flu scare.  That is one of the few times I got a flu shot.  The medical people were wrong that year and the deadly virus did not sweep the nation.

The government is not going to be the problem.  They are just going to listen to the medical experts and pass on the information.  They are not going to put a political spin on it.
They are not going to use it to force everyone to get a shot that is going to turn them in to socialist.  They do not need to try and use it to get national health care.
There will be some problems from the right on this issue…They are going to use it to attack President Obama.  It will depend on how the flu season turns out …if we have a bad flu season the right will attack him and say he did not do enough and if we have a season like 1976 he will be attacked for being a wild man out of control.  President Obama and the Democrats will not come out a winner on this flu season.

The news media are going to be a problem and it has nothing to do with CNN being a “Socialist” network.  It has nothing to do with Fox “news” being the wild right wing network that lies 24/7.
It has to do with all of them just being out for ratings and opportunist.  They do not care about America but only about ratings and “being first” with the “news.”
Fox “news” is one of the worst.  They love the stories about sex, drugs and all the rest … anything to get ratings.
So we can expect all of the networks to report each death of a young person…They will show the photos…They will show the crying mothers and it will go on and on ….without end.

Right now I think the American people are not worrying about it.. One reason is they do not want to believe it …  When the news media start counting the deaths and showing the photos … Then I think it will go the other direction… Then many of the American people will be living in fear.

I hope this is just like 1976 except this year I am not going to get the shot.

Note:  I think this flu season a lot of people are going to be looking for information.  I am going to start working on Show Me H1N1 News today.
I am going to try and make it a site that pulls in information, news and links on the subject.  If we get hit hard I hope people find some information to help them out.  If you are a doctor, nurse or anyone that can write on the subject or do some research on the subject contact me and I will set it so you can post to the blog.

Gravatar – what is it and how to get it PDF Print E-mail

What is a Gravatar and how do you get one and what can you do with it?  You want to know how much does it cost.  The cost is easy.  It is free.

“Gravatar (an abbreviation for globally recognized avatar) is a service for providing globally-unique avatars which was created by Tom Werner.

On Gravatar, users can register an account based on their email address, and upload an avatar to be associated with the account. Gravatar plugins are available for popular blogging software; when the user posts a comment on such a blog that requires an e-mail address, the blogging software checks whether that e-mail address has an associated avatar at Gravatar. If so, the Gravatar is shown along with the comment. Gravatar support is provided natively in WordPress as of v2.5  and Redmine web based project management application beginning with version 8.0 (2008-12-07) . Support for Gravatars is also provided via a third party module in the Drupal web content management system .

A Gravatar avatar can be up to 512 pixels wide, is always square and is displayed at 80 by 80 pixels by default.  If the uploaded avatar is larger or smaller, the avatar is scaled appropriately. Each Gravatar is rated with an MPAA-style age recommendation, which allows webmasters to control the content of the Gravatars displayed on their website.

To eliminate spam, e-mail addresses are hashed with the MD5 cryptographic hash function. This prevents spambots from harvesting e-mail addresses.”

What is Kiva? PDF Print E-mail

I am a big fan of micro-lending and of Kiva and so it is time I give a little plug for them again.

“Kiva's mission is to connect people through lending for the sake of alleviating poverty.

Kiva is the world's first person-to-person micro-lending website, empowering individuals to lend directly to unique entrepreneurs around the globe.

The people you see on Kiva's site are real individuals in need of funding - not marketing material. When you browse entrepreneurs' profiles on the site, choose someone to lend to, and then make a loan, you are helping a real person make great strides towards economic independence and improve life for themselves, their family, and their community. Throughout the course of the loan (usually 6-12 months), you can receive email journal updates and track repayments. Then, when you get your loan money back, you can relend to someone else in need.

Kiva partners with existing expert microfinance institutions. In doing so, we gain access to outstanding entrepreneurs from impoverished communities world-wide. Our partners are experts in choosing qualified entrepreneurs. That said, they are usually short on funds. Through Kiva, our partners upload their entrepreneur profiles directly to the site so you can lend to them. When you do, not only do you get a unique experience connecting to a specific entrepreneur on the other side of the planet, but our microfinance partners can do more of what they do, more efficiently.

Kiva provides a data-rich, transparent lending platform. We are constantly working to make the system more transparent to show how money flows throughout the entire cycle, and what effect it has on the people and institutions lending it, borrowing it, and managing it along the way. To do this, we are using the power of the internet to facilitate one-to-one connections that were previously prohibitively expensive. Child sponsorship has always been a high overhead business. Kiva creates a similar interpersonal connection at much lower costs due to the instant, inexpensive nature of internet delivery. The individuals featured on our website are real people who need a loan and are waiting for socially-minded individuals like you to lend them money”

  My Kiva page is:  http://www.kiva.org/lender/hnbbs
You can see some of the people that I have made loans to at that page.  Think about joining and loaning via Kiva.
